THE PASSOVER SEDER is a ritual Jewish feast that begins the Jewish Passover holiday, commemorating the journey and Exodus that led to the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in ancient Egypt, as depicted in the Hebrew Bible. Following a text called the Haggadah, the Seder, rich in symbolism, recalls the circumstances, hardships, and triumphs experienced by the Jewish people as they left Egypt. The Seder includes reading, drinking wine, story-telling, eating special foods, singing, and other Passover traditions, celebrating not only the physical liberation of Jews from ancient Egypt, but their spiritual freedom as well.
