Several Steps, Several Someones

Eusebio Garcia is a Refugee and Settlement Worker at the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Toronto. Born in Arcatao, El Salvador in 1965 to a family of 18 children, Eusebio left in 1984 to avoid being forced into the army or guerrilla forces during the El Salvadoran Civil War (1980-1992). He has a diploma in Community work from George Brown College and has been a member of Mutual Support Amongst Central American Refugees, a board president of the Centre for Spanish Speakng Peoples, involved with the Multilingual Literacy Center, and president of La Paz Coop Housing. Currently, through the Salvadorian Canadian Association of Toronto (ASALCA), he is petitioning the Canadian government to create sympathetic policy for people coming to Canada due to the changing political climate in the US.
